Threads of Women’s Stories
The Diamond Lab Spotlight: Art
Beginning Our Art House Series with Raghav Babbar
This month, in honour of International Women’s Day, founders Jaimie and Ruby present the work of contemporary artist Raghav Babbar in the flagship space on Bond Street. Choosing Babbar’s works featuring women in contemplative, quietly powerful moments, often draped in translucent veils and set within richly toned, atmospheric scenes lays a natural parallel with their own creative eye.
Growing up with Indian heritage steeped in colour, intricate fabrics and visual storytelling, Jaimie and Ruby have always been inspired by cultures where identity and emotion are expressed through texture and tradition. Babbar’s paintings echo this perspective. Drawing from his own Indian heritage and mid-20th century British art techniques, his layered oil portraits capture women with depth, dignity and individuality.
His featured portraits hold women in moments of reflection and quiet strength, inviting the viewer into scenes that feel both intimate and mysterious. Featuring Babbar’s work during this month brings a small thread of that shared cultural language into the space, where contemporary portraiture meets a heritage rich in colour and historical narrative.
Babbar's work has been featured in leading galleries and shows across the world including Art Basel (2024), Nature Morte, New Dehil (2025), Frieze, London (2025) and ICA Miami (2024).

Ocean of tears, 2025
A solitary female sits beneath a translucent veil against a dark, tidal horizon. Babbar captures a quiet moment of introspection, where stillness and emotion meet in layered tones of deep blue and warm amber.

Waterfall, 2025
Framed against a soft coral backdrop, a woman draped in a flowing blue veil stands in quiet contemplation. The delicate transparency of fabric and light evokes a sense of calm, strength, and inner reflection.

Saadgi, 2025
A woman absorbed in reading beneath an open sky, her flowing saffron garment echoing the movement of the landscape. Babbar captures a sense of simplicity and stillness through warm, earthy tones.

Shoonyata (emptiness), 2025
Set within an expansive green landscape, a solitary figure gazes beyond the frame. The vivid red of her dress stands against the softness of the horizon, suggesting introspection and openness on a warm Spring day.

Maassoom Jeevan, 2025
A lighthearted, dreamlike scene of a woman resting in the grass, her expression open and carefree. Babbar captures a sense of playfulness and gentle femininity, evoking the quiet joy and freedom found in moments of ease.

Face of Devotion, 2023
A portrait honouring the elder women who shaped generations before us.
The keepers of tradition who taught us to sew, thread, create and dream. Their patience, wisdom, and devotion carried stories, skills, and creativity through time, passing them gently from hand to hand. In her steady gaze lives the quiet strength of those whose guidance continues to shape the makers and storytellers of today.
